Splashing through puddles of chocolate or laughing at pink flamingos in a tree, children are enticed into the world of literacy through creative, imaginative verses. As they journey through a variety of poems, they experience the opportunity to view the world in a different way by looking upside down. They are intrigued by the mystery of lost sunflower seeds awaiting the bird of crimson red. They create mental images of a fuzzy little worm bumping into a frog named Sara Bill. They learn to appreciate people who are different as they encounter the bug-eyed yellow bee. Humorous characters and creative words are used as hooks to capture the young reader's imagination and encourage visual imagery. The ability to form pictures in the mind's eye is an important skill in successful reading. CHOCOLATE PUDDLES is intended to strengthen literacy skills and make reading fun for children of all ages.
