Chaldean Magic: Its Origin and Development by Francois Lenormant is a comprehensive study of the ancient Chaldean civilization and their magical practices. Lenormant, a renowned French historian and archaeologist, delves into the origins of Chaldean magic and its evolution over time. The book explores the Chaldean belief in the power of the stars and planets, and how they used this knowledge to develop a complex system of divination and astrology. Lenormant also examines the role of priests and priestesses in Chaldean society, and how they used magic to communicate with the gods and influence the natural world. In addition to providing a historical overview of Chaldean magic, Lenormant also includes translations of several ancient texts, including the famous Enuma Elish creation myth. This allows readers to gain a deeper understanding of Chaldean beliefs and practices. Overall, Chaldean Magic: Its Origin and Development is a fascinating exploration of an ancient civilization and their magical traditions.
