A Catholic Child's First Communion Bible (Boys)
A Catholic Child's First Communion Bible is a compact, child-friendly gift book specifically designed for boys (ages roughly 5-8) receiving their First Holy Communion (First Eucharist). Authored by Ruth Hannon and Rev. Victor Hoagland, C.P.,
A Catholic Child's First Communion Bible is not a complete or full-text Bible. Instead, it presents a carefully selected collection of simplified Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments, retold in short, easy-to-read one-page narratives. Each story is paired with a vibrant, full-page color illustration in a traditional, engaging style that appeals to young children. The selections trace salvation history from Creation all the way to the Ascension of Jesus, helping young readers understand God's love, key events in salvation history, and the foundations of Catholic faith--especially in preparation for the sacrament of the Eucharist. The language is gentle and age-appropriate, with no complex theology, making it an ideal keepsake that children can read themselves or have read to them.

Key Aspects of this Bible
- Purpose & Sacramental Tie-In: Created explicitly as a First Communion gift; the stories build a simple understanding of God's covenant and Jesus' presence in the Eucharist without heavy doctrinal language.
- Format & Readability: One story per spread, text + large illustration, short paragraphs, large print--perfect for beginning readers or bedtime sharing.
- Illustrations: Full-color, traditional Catholic art style that brings the stories to life and holds a child's attention.
- Extra Features: Communion certificate pages (for the child's name, date, parish, etc.), gold-edged pages, and a small, portable size that fits easily in a child's hands or prayer corner.
- Catholic Emphasis: Gentle Catholic perspective (e.g., highlighting Jesus' institution of the Eucharist in the Last Supper story) while staying faithful to Scripture.
- Gift Appeal: Available in multiple cover colors/themes (white, boy/girl editions) and often sold in a presentation box--making it a treasured, long-lasting memento.
This little Bible is beloved for its simplicity and beauty; it introduces children to the heart of the Catholic story in a way that feels personal and celebratory rather than overwhelming. If you own a copy or have access to the interior, the exact story titles would appear in order from Genesis through the Gospels/Acts. It remains one of the classic, affordable First Communion gifts from Catholic Book Publishing Corp.
