Binxu Catherine Zhao, at only 14 years old and in a second language, has assembled an impressive debut collection of poems, White Moonlight and the North Star. As a teacher and writer, I am thrilled with Catherine's dedication to her craft and to finding an audience. Her poems are filled with fascination and combine youthful wonder with an artist's-a poet's-dedication to exacting craft. As her title suggests, Zhao's musings and subjects are not limited to teenager's typical world of social media and the quotidian concerns of schoolwork. Her focus is the universal based in her experience of the particular. Keep your eyes on this young poet of promise.
