Catherine and Other Poems are the sins of youth, when this poet first set pen to paper and dashed off dozens of verses a day. From that mountainous pile has been mined a few worthwhile morsels gathered in this vessel and offered to the world because, as we know, a world without a touch of poetry in it is a world best shunned by sentient beings. I am a descendant of Robert Herrick and poetry courses through my veins.
