Vincent loves being Viviana's big brother. His little sister follows him from room to room, watches everything he does, and calls him by the most special name she knows: Buhbba.
To Viviana, Vincent is a helper, a playmate, and a hero. He shows her how to build with blocks, makes her laugh, and tries to keep her safe. But being the big brother also comes with big expectations. When Vincent makes a poor choice or becomes frustrated, Dada reminds him that Viviana is watching and that he must set a good example.
Vincent wants to be a wonderful brother, but he is only four years old. He is still learning how to share, manage his feelings, make good choices, and ask for help. Sometimes it feels as though everyone expects him to be big simply because Viviana is smaller.
One day, after a block tower tumbles and some very big feelings spill over, Vincent finds the courage to ask Dada an important question: Dada... can I be little too?
That honest question helps Dada see what Vincent has been trying to express. Vincent may be Viviana's big brother, but he is still a young child who needs patience, reassurance, affection, and room to make mistakes. As Dada listens, the family discovers that setting a good example does not mean being perfect. It means taking responsibility, showing compassion, apologizing when necessary, and trying again together.
Can I Be Little Too? is a tender, beautifully illustrated children's story about sibling love, emotional development, family expectations, and the unique pressures placed on older children. The story validates the complicated feelings that can come with becoming a big brother or big sister while celebrating the joy, laughter, and unconditional love siblings share.
Written for children ages 3 to 7, this comforting read aloud supports conversations about big feelings, empathy, patience, forgiveness, emotional safety, and positive parenting. It is especially meaningful for families welcoming a younger sibling, children learning to express their needs, and caregivers seeking gentle ways to remind older children that they are still growing too.
Warm, honest, and deeply reassuring, Can I Be Little Too? reminds every child that they do not have to be perfect to be loved. Even the child who helps, leads, and protects still deserves the freedom to be little.
