The photographs within this collection were not even in an album, but had been scattered among various boxes of family papers, and some were in the hands of other family members. (And those family members are to be thanked for sharing their treasures.) Some photos were in bad shape and others were not identified. Every effort has been made to restore the photos and correctly identify each person. However, errors may have occurred. The photographs in this album are all related to Callaway County, Missouri. A group of families left that area circa 1906 and moved to Kay County, Oklahoma. They still had relatives back in Missouri and various members would make the trip to Oklahoma, or back home to Missouri, to visit with family. They also sent photographs to the distant relatives. This book is dedicated to those Callaway County Roots. An attempt was made to limit the photographs to the first generation after the exodus. A quantity of the photos were shared by other family members, and every attempt has been made to credit those donors. An apology is offered to all who were not correctly identified as the owners of the donated photos. The families identified in these pages often had intermarried with each other so that photographs may appear in more than one group. Also, several families are grouped together. But no matter how they are sorted, they are fascinating glimpses into the lives of our ancestors. Sit down and page through this album and share with your family. Again, a hearty thank-you to those who were so kind as to share their treasured memories.
