When Caidon, a bright and curious boy with low vision, visits a marine park with his family, he feels uncertain about joining the other children in the water. Everything looks different-blurrier, louder, and a little overwhelming. But then, a playful sea lion named Sebastian splashes into his world, turning fear into friendship and doubt into discovery.
Caidon Meets Sebastian is a beautifully illustrated picture book that encourages children to embrace their unique perspectives and find courage in unexpected places. Inspired by real experiences and written by educator and author Nakia NK Navarro, the story gently introduces readers to themes of inclusion, empathy, and self-confidence.
As Caidon learns to trust himself and explore the world through his own way of seeing, young readers will find inspiration to do the same. The vivid, Pixar-style illustrations and rhythmic storytelling make this book a favorite for storytime, classrooms, and family reading.
Perfect for children ages 4-8, Caidon Meets Sebastian celebrates courage, resilience, and friendship-reminding us all that what makes us different also makes us extraordinary.
Themes: Low Vision Awareness - Courage - Friendship - Inclusion - Resilience - Empathy
