Cybersecurity and Homeland Security

Even before the terrorist attacks of September 2001, concerns had beenrising among security experts about the vulnerabilities to attack ofcomputer systems and associated infrastructure. Yet, despiteincreasing attention from federal and state governments andinternational organisations, the defence against attacks on thesesystems has appeared to be generally fragmented and varying widely ineffectiveness. Concerns have grown that what is needed is a nationalcybersecurity framework - a co-ordinated, coherent set of public- andprivate-sector efforts required to ensure an acceptable level ofcybersecurity for the nation.
