In an imaginary Latin American country, Pedro returns from the war, totally amnesiac following a fall in a ravine. When he returns home, he tries to recover his memory. But what he discovers from his previous life does not please him. He tries to make people forget all this, especially since, on the other hand, his twin brother, Pablo, who died during a fight, left the memory of a kind and generous young man, musician and poet. In the hypnotic atmosphere of the Cueva Madre (the mother cave), he persuades himself that he is in fact Pablo. Who is really the twin returned from the war? Is it better, after amnesia, to want to reconstruct one's past or to use it to reconstruct oneself according to what we would have preferred to be?
