This series of books including, Buddhist Existential Poetry from Myanmar and Experiencing Myanmar, was inspired by the poetry of Aye Maunng. He was born in Burma in 1930 and started writing poetry when aged about 60. His poetry presents a narrative of Burman life from Independence, the nearby Communist Revolution in China, the long period of isolation and to more recent events. This book of poetry from Aye Maunng with complimenting photographs explores his life and the changes occurring in Myanmar. The poems are historical, religious, personal, self-deprecatory, whimsical and an account of the changes within Myanmar over the decades of his life's existence.
