As Randall Jackson, a skilled farrier with a complicated past, bent over to nail on a customer's horse last shoe, a pair of boots came into his line of sight. When he glanced up, he saw a young woman standing before him, her face angelic. Surprised, he felt a pang of embarrassment at his sweat-soaked shirt, dirty from the horses brushing against him. Grace Madden, who had just lost her sister-the last member of her family-was a determined dairy farmer. She focused on Randy's muscular arms and ruggedly handsome face, unconcerned with the disheveled appearance of a hard-working man. Tending to a herd of dairy cows was hard work, too.
Later, after their initial greeting, an incident brought them together again. Randy finally worked up the nerve to ask her out, and to his surprise, Grace accepted the invitation. The more they saw each other, the deeper their feelings grew. Grace was happier than she'd ever been, at least until one day, while traveling home in her wagon, she saw him on the boarding house steps embracing another woman. Already worn down and disappointed with her life's path, she decided to sell the dairy and spend some time traveling-anything to get away from Randy Jackson, who had made a fool of her and broken her heart, already fragile from the many hardships the dairy had brought into her life.
Randy had no idea where she was or why she sold the dairy, and no one-not even her best friend-knew where she had gone. Randy's best friend at the Red River Ranch challenged him to go find her. His boss allowed him some time off, but the state of Texas was a vast expanse filled with outlaws and cattle rustlers.
Fans of Cam Locke's books will love Cowboy in Search of Grace, a tale of shattered dreams, determination, and beautiful endings.
About the Author Cam, a Baby Boomer and World War II era child, discovered her love for horses as a teenager near the remnants of a Memphis Thoroughbred racetrack. This passion led her to meet her cowboy husband and eventually settle in Texas and Oklahoma, where they bred AQHA racing stallions and sold them at the prestigious Hertage Place auction in Oklahoma City. Her experiences in horse breeding, rodeos, and ranching now inspire her writing, grounding her stories in the authentic world of Western life. Also from
