Imagine the hosts of angels going out to meet Him--their welcome--their triumphal entry through the gates of heaven. Illustration: The triumph of ancient warriors and kings. Captives, trophies, rejoicings. Jesus left heaven a humble Babe--returns a Conqueror. Then if Jesus a King, He rules. Over whom? His subjects. You and I subjects of His. What do we say those subjects are who love their king and obey his laws? Are we really loyal to our King? Have been enlisted among His loyal subjects--when? Profess to be 'under His banner.' Take care we are not rebels--traitors. III. THE HIGH PRIEST INTERCEDING. A strange scene in the ancient Jewish times. Picture the Holy Place--the Holy of Holies divided from it by a vail. The great ' Day of Atonement.' High Priest in his robe. Goes within the vail into the Holy of Holies. What does he take with him? (Lev. xvi. 13, 14.) (1) Blood, (2) Incense. See him sprinkling the blood upon the mercyseat, and offering the incense. And doing this all alone in the Holy of Holies. What was the meaning of all this? All a picture of what our High Priest was to do for us. What does the Holy of Holies represent? Heaven. (Heb. iv. 14.) Whose blood does the sprinkled blood represent? The incense rising heavenward filling the Holy of Holies, that must mean something. Yes. See Heb. vii. 25. Our High Priest's intercession for us. What is it to intercede? When is it needed?
