In The Counterfeit Republic, former law-enforcement officer and Illinois state legislator John Anthony traces how Marxist ideas, progressive education, the administrative state, nonprofit power, philanthropy, and political dependency reshaped American life.
Beginning with Karl Marx, John Dewey, the Frankfurt School, and Saul Alinsky, Anthony follows the ideological road into classrooms, government agencies, media, corporate culture, and the institutions that once formed citizens capable of governing themselves.
This is not a claim that every reformer is a Marxist or that every public program was created with corrupt intentions. It is a documented examination of how systems built to address real injustice developed incentives that rewarded permanent management more reliably than restored independence.
Anthony pays particular attention to Black America, where communities seeking ownership and self-determination were too often offered programs, political loyalty, professional advocates, and promises that never produced lasting restoration.

What happens when a nation stops forming citizens and begins managing populations?
