The Contests Of Right Versus Wrong is a philosophical treatise written by Edmund Shaftesbury, exploring the nature of morality and ethical decision-making. The book is divided into several sections, each of which delves into a different aspect of the topic. In the first section, Shaftesbury lays out his theory of moral principles, arguing that there are certain objective standards by which we can judge right and wrong actions. He then goes on to explore the role of reason and intuition in ethical decision-making, and discusses the importance of cultivating virtues such as compassion, courage, and honesty.Throughout the book, Shaftesbury draws on a range of philosophical and literary sources, from Plato and Aristotle to Shakespeare and Milton, to illustrate his arguments and provide examples of moral dilemmas. He also engages with contemporary debates in philosophy, such as the relationship between morality and religion, and the role of empathy in ethical decision-making.Overall, The Contests Of Right Versus Wrong is a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of the nature of morality and the challenges we face in trying to make ethical decisions in a complex and often confusing world.THIS 298 PAGE ARTICLE WAS EXTRACTED FROM THE BOOK: Right: A System of Personal Training Exceeding in Importance the Most Valuable Courses Offered in School, College, Or University Based on the Newest Acquisition to Human Knowledge, the Discovery of the Mind, by Edmund Shaftesbury.
