This book examines diverse media spaces in which colonial power is both reproduced and contested. While global media flows are conventionally understood as moving from centre to periphery, the volume also attends to the reverse movement, in which local narratives from marginalized communities reach global audiences while retaining their cultural essence. Colonialism has shaped power relations, economic structures, cultural norms, identity formation, and knowledge production worldwide, and its remnants remain prominent in media spaces. Grounded in Global South and Global Majority scholarship, the volume draws together diaspora studies, subaltern and postcolonial theory, and the discourses of conquest and anti-conquest. Together these map how colonial legacies are upheld, challenged, and reworked. The result is an interconnected framework for understanding neocolonialism in the twenty-first century as an ongoing, unfinished process.
