Orphaned and alone on a dying planet, Evie prayed for rescue. When a ship crash-landed on the planet, it seemed as though her prayers had been answered. But aboard the Space Ark, she is an outsider, a child of criminals, and suspected of murder. Can she clear her name and escape the curse of her birth?
In the not-so-distant future, when the Earth takes its last breath, humans were left with no other choice. Space. To be more precise, Proxima Centauri. This meant massive ships had to be built and fast. It was a race. A race which led to the Last War.
That's how all their stories began. After the Last War...
Evie's parents committed a terrible crime: they conceived a child without the aid of science. After it was discovered, they were faced with a very hard choice. Steal a ship and run, or stay and abort a child they already loved. The plan was to meet up with another ship and petition for citizenship but as luck would have it, they found a planet.
Her life was doomed from the start. Being born with a bad heart made things more difficult. If you asked her, she had a good life. All the way up until her parents died when she turned twelve. Poor Evie spent the next eleven years praying someone would come to rescue her.
She thought that day had come when she saw a ship in the sky. When the ship crashed near her cabin, she knew she had to help. Evie tried to save both the people aboard, but unfortunately, only one survived.
She made herself a promise: she would get him the help he needed or die trying: she did both.
She woke up aboard a generation ship with a brand-new heart. Everything was new and the food tasted like heaven and she was ecstatic. But that feeling didn't last very long when she was charged with murder.
Rated PG13 for Sexual Situations, Violence, and Bad Language
