Mr Berton presented the memorial of the dtizens residing in the Salt Ruer Land District, in Missouri, remonstrating against the removal of the Land Office from its present position, Palmyra, to New London; which was read. On motion, Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee on Public Lands, to consider and report thereon. Mr. Benton presented the petition of the inhabitants of the county of Michilimarkinae, in the territory of Michigan, praying that that territory may.be divided into two separate governments; which was read; and, On motion, by Mr. Benton, Resolved, That it be referred to a select committee, to consist of three members, to consider and report thereon, by bill or otherwise. Mr. Benton, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Branch, were appointed the said committee. Mr. T-Ibot gave notice that he would, to-morrow, ask leave to bring in a joint resolution, authorizing the purchase of a certain number of copies of the Journals of Congress, from 1774 to 1788. Mr. King, of Alabama, gave notice that he would, to-morrow, ask leave to bring in a bill making compensation to the persons appointed by the electors to deliver the votes for President and Vice President. On motion, by Mr. Barbour, Ordered, That the Committee on Foreign Relations be discharged from the further consideration of the documents in relation to Spain, which accompanied the President's message of the 7th ultimo.
