It all came out at the inquest and in the papers next day, but I wasn't there as a witness or to be interviewed. A handcar, you know, was the kind of private car our gang generally used when the railroad wasn't accommodatin' enough to run a special, so's we could make an easy getaway from a job. Sometimes we had to make out with a buggy, either borrowed or stolen, and sometimes we just had to leg it.
