The Confession of Pontius Pilate is a historical fiction novel written by Albinus Fabricius. The book is a retelling of the story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ from the perspective of Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea who presided over the trial of Jesus. The story begins with Pilate receiving a letter from Tiberius Caesar, the Roman emperor, ordering him to investigate the activities of Jesus, who has been causing unrest among the Jewish people. Pilate reluctantly agrees to the task and begins to question Jesus about his teachings and beliefs. As the trial progresses, Pilate becomes increasingly conflicted about his role in the proceedings. He is torn between his duty to uphold Roman law and his growing sympathy for Jesus, who he believes is innocent of the charges brought against him.Ultimately, Pilate is pressured by the Jewish leaders to sentence Jesus to death, and he reluctantly gives in to their demands. However, after the crucifixion, Pilate is haunted by guilt and begins to question his actions. The Confession of Pontius Pilate is a thought-provoking and engaging novel that explores the themes of power, justice, and morality. It offers a unique perspective on one of the most significant events in human history and challenges readers to consider the complexities of human nature and the consequences of our actions.1917. This work was first written, as alleged, in Latin, by Fabricius Albinus, a playmate of Pilate, translated into Arabic by Jerasimus Jared, late Bishop of Zahleh, in Lebanon, and here rendered from the Arabic into English. Pilate was the 5th governor over Judea after its subjugation by the Romans, having been appointed in the 26th year, AD, ruling for a period of ten years. He was cruel and oppressive, hating both the Jews and the Samaritans, which, with other reasons, caused the people to make many complaints against him, until at last, through the efforts of Vitellius, Governor of Syria, he was deposed and sent to Rome to be tried before Tiberius, the Emperor. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
