A Confederate Girl's Diary is a first-hand account of life in the South during the American Civil War, written by Sarah Morgan Dawson. The diary covers the years 1862 to 1865, and details the experiences of a young woman living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as the war rages on. Dawson writes about the daily struggles and hardships faced by Southern civilians, including shortages of food and supplies, the constant threat of Union soldiers, and the emotional toll of losing loved ones to battle or disease. She also provides insight into the political and social climate of the time, including her own opinions on the war and the actions of Confederate leaders. The diary is a valuable historical document, offering a unique perspective on the Civil War from the viewpoint of a young woman living in the midst of it.Baton Rouge Native Sarah Faithfully Recorded Her Impressions Of Wartime Louisiana From 10 January 1862 To 15 June 1865.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
