The Condition of English Catholics Under Charles II is a historical book written by Comtesse R. de Courson. The book examines the situation of English Catholics during the reign of King Charles II, who ruled from 1660 to 1685. During this period, Catholics faced religious persecution and discrimination, including being barred from holding public office, attending universities, and practicing their faith openly. The book provides a detailed account of the laws and policies that were implemented to suppress Catholicism and the impact they had on the lives of English Catholics. The author also explores the political and social context of the time, including the influence of the Protestant majority and the role of the monarchy in shaping religious policy. Overall, The Condition of English Catholics Under Charles II offers a fascinating insight into a little-known period of English history and sheds light on the struggles faced by a marginalized religious minority. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
