Enemies on the surface, soulmates underneath, their second chance is a tender, painful dance between letting go of hurt and finally coming home.
Six years ago, Jocko Monroe walked away without a word after planting a cruel goodbye kiss on Jorja Jones' unsuspecting lips, leaving her humiliated and heartbroken, and exploding rumors that haunt her to this day-that she's HIS girl.
Yet when he strides back into Live Oak, a Navy SEAL hero with his fierce K9 Luce at his side, anger and desire... rage versus yearning... collide in an emotionally confusing storm within her heart. Though her resentment runs deep, every glance from Jocko stirs the painful longing she can't bury. She swore she'd never forgive him, but while on assignment to write an article on Heroes Among Us, Jorja's offered a rare glimpse into the battle-scarred hero's raw vulnerability and silent strength. Forced to observe Luce's devotion to Jocko and his to his loyal companion, the ice surrounding her heart begins to melt.
Can she forgive the man who shattered her? Emotional and entertaining. What's hotter than a guy who loves his dog and treats him like his much-loved child, a guy and dog that can and will take on the world to protect the love of his life.
I not only enjoyed the chemistry and banter between them, but the adventures the boys went on were exciting. What a truly inspiring and heartfelt story. I teared up so many times. This made me proud to be an American.* * * * * *
An earlier edition of this story (Rules of Engagement) existed in K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World, a shared romance universe centered around her Everyday Heroes Series about the Malone brothers. When Jessika removed that version from Bromberg's universe, she re-titled it Coming Home For Her and revamped it as the first book in her Life in Live Oak Series. Readers familiar with the original printing will note that Jocko is no longer a Malone but is now a Monroe. All plot elements that tie this story to K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World were removed or renamed. In Coming Home For Her, Jessika has added more content and additional scenes. Also from
