Colomba is a novel written by French author Prosper Merimee. The story is set in Corsica, an island in the Mediterranean Sea, and follows the protagonist, Colomba Carabelli, as she seeks revenge for her family's honor. Colomba is a strong-willed and intelligent young woman who is fiercely loyal to her family and their traditions. When her brother is accused of murder, Colomba sets out to clear his name and restore the family's honor. She uses her cunning and knowledge of Corsican customs to manipulate those around her and ultimately achieve her goal. Along the way, Colomba must navigate the complex social and political landscape of Corsica, including its long-standing feud between two rival families. Colomba is a gripping tale of honor, revenge, and the power of family ties. Now that every one is asleep--the beautiful Colomba, the colonel, and his daughter--I will seize the opportunity to acquaint my reader with certain details of which he must not be ignorant, if he desires to follow the further course of this veracious history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
