A Collection Of Farces And Other Afterpieces, Volume 6 presents a curated anthology of comedic plays that graced the stages of London's most prestigious theatres: Drury-Lane, Covent-Garden, and Hay-Market. This volume, printed under the authority of the theatre managers from the prompt books, offers a glimpse into the popular entertainment of the era.
Featuring anonymous works, these farces and afterpieces represent the lighter fare enjoyed by audiences seeking amusement and laughter. The collection provides invaluable insight into the theatrical traditions and comedic sensibilities of the time, capturing the spirit of 18th-century English theatre. Scholars and enthusiasts of dramatic literature will find this compilation a valuable resource, preserving a slice of theatrical history that continues to resonate with its wit and charm.
