Coal Dust provides an intimate look at the community and the people who influenced the author's young life growing up in post-World War II Coalfield, Tennessee. Times were changing in Coalfield as old traditions passed away and the former coal mining community in rural Southern Appalachia charged ahead into the technology-driven latter half of the twentieth century. Readers will recall their own personal experiences and relationships that relate to those portrayed by the author.
