Clinical Intelligence Across Medicine gives healthcare attorneys a single, disciplined method for evaluating medically complex cases across eighteen clinical specialties and care settings, and eight recurring injury and deterioration pathways, from sepsis and failure to rescue to birth injury and surgical error.
Most attorneys learn medicine the hard way: one case, one specialty, one retained expert at a time, with no consistent framework carried from matter to matter. A malpractice file lands on the desk, an expert is retained, a theory is built around whatever that expert happens to explain well, and the process starts over from zero on the next case. This book closes that gap. Built on the Lexcura Clinical Intelligence Model, an eight-pillar framework developed specifically for litigation use, the same disciplined path from medical record to defensible legal theory is applied consistently across every chapter, from emergency medicine and obstetrics to oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, psychiatry, and hospice care.
Organized across three volumes, the book moves from foundational framework to full clinical breadth to applied synthesis. Volume I establishes the eight-pillar model in detail and walks through ten core specialties, giving readers a repeatable method before applying it broadly. Volume II extends that same model across eight additional clinical domains and care settings, covering longitudinal and community-based care from primary care through hospice. Volume III applies the framework to the injury and deterioration patterns that cut across specialties entirely, the pathways that recur again and again in litigation regardless of which department or care setting the harm occurred in.
Each of the twenty-eight chapters follows an identical structure so that once a reader learns the method, every subsequent chapter is immediately usable: the clinical standard of care explained in plain, non-technical language; the specific ways that standard commonly breaks down in practice; a fully worked case example showing the framework applied to realistic facts; and a Clinical Intelligence Lesson distilling the pattern recognition an attorney should carry into the next record that crosses their desk. The goal throughout is not to turn attorneys into clinicians, but to give them the vocabulary, the diagnostic questions, and the pattern recognition to work more effectively with retained medical experts, catch issues an expert might otherwise miss, and build a case theory that is grounded in the actual, documented standard of care rather than intuition.
