A Clash of Destinies: The Arab-Jewish War and the Founding of the State of Israel by Jon Kimche is a comprehensive historical account of the events leading up to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. The book explores the complex and often violent relationship between the Jewish and Arab communities in Palestine during the early 20th century, examining the political, economic, and social factors that contributed to the conflict.Kimche provides a detailed analysis of the various factions involved in the struggle for control of the region, including the Zionist movement, the British colonial authorities, and the Arab nationalist movement. He also examines the role played by external powers such as the United States and the Soviet Union, as well as the impact of World War II on the conflict.Throughout the book, Kimche provides a balanced and nuanced perspective on the events and personalities involved in the Arab-Jewish war, drawing on a wealth of primary sources and first-hand accounts. He also offers insights into the broader historical context of the conflict, including the legacy of colonialism and the rise of nationalism in the Middle East.Overall, A Clash of Destinies is a highly informative and engaging read for anyone interested in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the founding of the State of Israel. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
