Cikshasamuccaya: A Compendium of Buddhistic Teaching is a book written by Cantideva in 1897. It is a collection of Buddhist teachings that cover a wide range of topics related to the Buddhist philosophy and way of life. The book is divided into twelve chapters, each of which deals with a specific aspect of Buddhist thought and practice. The first chapter discusses the Buddha's teachings on the Four Noble Truths, which form the foundation of Buddhist philosophy. The second chapter covers the concept of impermanence, or the idea that all things are constantly changing. The third chapter focuses on the importance of mindfulness and meditation in achieving enlightenment. The following chapters delve into topics such as the nature of consciousness, the concept of karma, the practice of generosity, and the importance of ethical conduct. The book also includes teachings on the Six Perfections, which are the qualities that a Buddhist practitioner must cultivate in order to attain enlightenment. Throughout the book, Cantideva draws on a variety of Buddhist texts and teachings, including the Pali Canon and the Mahayana sutras. He presents these teachings in a clear and accessible manner, making them relevant to modern readers. Overall, Cikshasamuccaya: A Compendium of Buddhistic Teaching is a comprehensive guide to Buddhist philosophy and practice. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in learning more about Buddhism and its teachings. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
