The Battalion was formed in March 1916. It consisted of two companies of the 13th Australian Infantry Battalion- survivors from Gallipoli- with the addition of fresh drafts from Australia . It moved to France in June and remained on the Western Front for the next two years. One of the appendixes is a list of 200 engagements which resulted in at least one individual award for bravery, it reflects the intensity of the battalions fighting services during those two years. An impressive history. Appendixes, Honours & Awards (with citations), nominal roll.
