Chord Charts for the Top 100 Traditional Hymns was created for singers, guitarists, worshipleaders, small groups, churches, families, and anyone who wants a simple way to sing the greathymns of the Christian tradition.
This collection is intentionally straightforward. Each hymn is presented as a text-based chordchart: the words are shown with chord names placed above the appropriate syllables or phrases.There is no staff notation, no piano arrangement, and no written melody line. The purpose is toprovide a clean, practical format for people who already know these familiar hymn tunes, or whowish to lead them by ear, with guitar, piano, ukulele, keyboard, or other chordal instruments.
The hymns included here have endured because they speak with clarity, beauty, and spiritualdepth. They have been sung in churches, homes, schools, revival meetings, funerals, weddings, camp meetings, and informal gatherings for generations. Some are songs of praise; some areprayers for guidance; some express trust in hardship; some proclaim the joy of Easter, Christmas, redemption, grace, and eternal hope. Together, they form a treasury of traditional Christian song.
The chord charts have been designed to be easy to read and easy to use. In many cases, thechords are simple enough for beginning players, while still giving more experienced musicians auseful framework for accompaniment.
