Step into the magic and mystery of Ireland's mythological past with this easy-to-read, Irish classic chapter book for kids, with pen and ink illustrations. The Children of LÃr celebrates loyalty, perseverance, and the enduring power of family love, while introducing readers to the rich traditions of Irish Culture & Heritage.
The Children of LÃr is one of Ireland's best-loved folktales, treasured for over a thousand years. This timeless Celtic legend inspires young readers with themes of courage, resilience, hope. Bound together by love, the four children protect, comfort, and encourage one another through nine hundred years of hardship as they endure a powerful curse that transforms them into swans.
This beautifully retold Irish classic, with pen and ink illustrations, is loosely based on the version in More Celtic Fairy Tales by Joseph Jacobs, first published in 1894. Faithful to the spirit of the original, it is written in clear, accessible language for today's young readers. It is my hope that this adaptation will introduce a new generation to one of Ireland's greatest legends and encourage a lifelong love of Irish folklore.
