Hello, my name is Concessa Elisabeth Nurse, but please, call me Chessa. I was born in Barbados and travelled to Massachusetts with my family after my father was chosen to govern the small town of Osbourne Hills. We lived in peace and kept to ourselves until the early spring of my 16th year. It was on the 19th of March 1962, during the vernal Equinox, when my story really began, if it really matters, when I was cast into the world of darkness and transformed into a vampire. Within the pages of this book, I'll recount the chain of events that led to the curse that befell me. Over the centuries, I've struggled to hold onto the last vestige of humanity that flows within my veins, while at the same time, learning to embrace the full capabilities of my vampiric nature. I did, however, make a promise to myself: I would never again feed off innocent blood. I do enjoy human company, and if you're lucky, you may catch me sitting beside you in a rural pub or coffee house.
