Empress Dowager Cixi (November 29, 1835- November 15, 1908), of the Yehenara clan, was from the Bordered Blue Banner in Manchuria (later moved to the Bordered Yellow Banner in Manchuria). Her name was Xingzhen, but there are also claims that she was Han Chinese. After the death of Emperor Xianfeng, she served as the Empress Dowager and was the actual ruler of the Qing Dynasty from 1861 to 1908.
Aisin Gioro Zai Nan (August 14, 1871- November 14, 1908), Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, was the eleventh emperor of the Qing Dynasty. At the age of 4, he ascended to the throne and was supervised by Empress Dowager Cixi and Empress Dowager Cixi. In 1898, Emperor Guangxu carried out the Hundred Days' Reform, which endangered the interests of feudal conservative forces and was opposed by the conservative faction led by Empress Dowager Cixi. He was imprisoned in Yingtai by Empress Dowager Cixi. In the 34th year of the Guangxu reign, Emperor Guangxu, who was only 38 years old, died suddenly. Just one day after his death, Empress Dowager Cixi, who had ruled China for nearly 50 years, declared her death. So, why were the two deaths so close, and why did Emperor Guangxu die early in his prime? Why did Guangxu die before Empress Dowager Cixi? For over a hundred years, people have been constantly guessing this mystery, so what is the truth?
