From Mongolian Princess to Dynasty Savior

Empress Xiaozhuang Wen, the consort of Emperor Taizong of the Qing Dynasty, was the mother of Emperor Shunzhi. Her surname was Borjigit and her name was Bumubutai, also known as Benbutai. After her death, she was posthumously named Empress Xiaozhuang Wen and buried in the Zhaoxi Mausoleum. She is often referred to as Empress Xiaozhuang in history. Empress Xiaozhuang was originally the second daughter of Sang from Beilezhai in the Khorchin tribe of Mongolia (now Tongliao). Born on the eighth day of the second lunar month in the forty first year of the Wanli reign, which is March 28, 1613, and passed away on the twenty fifth day of the twelfth lunar month in the twenty sixth year of the Kangxi reign, which is January 27, 1688, at the age of 75. Empress Xiaozhuang was a famous virtuous queen throughout history. She stabilized the situation in the early Qing Dynasty after the death of Emperor Taiji, assisted the monarchs of Shunzhi and Kangxi, and had a great influence on the political landscape of the early Qing Dynasty. She was an outstanding female politician of her generation. But in her life, the most talked about event was undoubtedly the Empress Dowager marrying the Regent.
