Chaucer: The Prioresses Tale, Sir Thopas, The Monkes Tale, The Clerkes Tale, The Squieres Tale From The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer is a collection of five tales that were originally written in Middle English during the 14th century. The book is part of the Canterbury Tales, a series of stories that were told by a group of pilgrims traveling to Canterbury Cathedral. The first tale, The Prioresses Tale, tells the story of a young boy who is killed by Jews for singing a hymn to the Virgin Mary. The second tale, Sir Thopas, is a parody of medieval romances and tells the story of a knight who goes on a quest to win the love of a beautiful maiden. The third tale, The Monkes Tale, is a series of tragic stories about the fall of great men. The fourth tale, The Clerkes Tale, is a retelling of the story of Griselda, a patient and obedient wife who endures many trials at the hands of her husband. The fifth and final tale, The Squieres Tale, is a romantic story about a knight who falls in love with a beautiful woman and must overcome many obstacles to win her hand in marriage. Overall, Chaucer: The Prioresses Tale, Sir Thopas, The Monkes Tale, The Clerkes Tale, The Squieres Tale From The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer is a fascinating glimpse into medieval literature and the storytelling traditions of the time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
