Charley Shane is a woman on a mission. She's out to prove that she can make it on her own without her ex-husband's help. She's rebuilding her life after leaving her controlling, attorney ex and the city of Richmond behind. She decided to move to the other side of the state and start fresh. She swore that no matter what, she wasn't going to be with another man with money because she didn't like what she had to go through to enjoy the life of the upper crust.
Chess Lockley is a young bull on a major come-up in Newport News. He's made a name for himself while doing it all on his own merit. He's different than all the other hustlers in the area. Mainly because he's half-white and was raised by his white mother. However, that didn't stop his love for the streets or black women. He's looking for a queen to his king but has had his fill of the local women who only see him as a meal ticket. That is until he runs into Charley while out in a club.
The two met one night and are instantly drawn to each other. No matter how hard Charley tries to avoid him, all the forces pull her right into Chess' orbit. Will she be able to resist this man, or will she fall for a kingpin, forgetting all she said about not being with a man with money?
Rima is a woman with a man who adores her and a beautiful daughter. The problem is, she's in love with Chess, who happens to be her fiancé's best friend. Watching Chess with Charley is eating her up, and she decides to take matters into her own hands. Will she ruin her relationship with her man? Will this put a rift in the friendship between the two men?
Vega is gorgeous and determined. She is a woman who gets what she wants, and that's a career as a photographer and Nyla. Nyla is the woman she met the same night Charley and Chess connected. The problem is, Nyla is Rima's cousin, and she doesn't know if she can completely trust her.
What happens when worlds collide, secrets are exposed and new life blooms? Find out in part one of this drama.
