Caybigan is a novel written by James Hopper. The story is set in the Philippines and follows the life of a young American named John Boone who travels to the remote island of Caybigan to escape the pressures of his life in the United States. Once there, he becomes enamored with the island's natural beauty and the simplicity of life that its inhabitants enjoy. He quickly befriends a local fisherman named Pedro and falls in love with a young woman named Maria. However, their idyllic life is disrupted when a powerful typhoon hits the island, destroying everything in its path. As they struggle to rebuild their lives, John and the islanders must confront the harsh realities of life in a place where nature can be both beautiful and deadly. The novel explores themes of love, loss, and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
