Catriona is a historical novel written by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson. It was first published in 1893 and is a sequel to his earlier novel, Kidnapped. The story takes place in 1751 and follows the adventures of David Balfour, a young Scottish man who has recently returned from his travels in Europe. David becomes embroiled in a political conspiracy involving the Jacobite uprising and the attempt to restore the exiled Stuart dynasty to the throne of Scotland. Along the way, he meets and falls in love with Catriona Drummond, a young woman who is also caught up in the political turmoil. Together, they must navigate dangerous political waters and fight for their lives against powerful enemies. The novel is a thrilling tale of adventure, romance, and political intrigue set against the backdrop of 18th century Scotland.THE 25th day of August, 1751, about two in the afternoon, I, David Balfour, came forth of the British Linen Company, a porter attending me with a bag of money, and some of the chief of these merchants bowing me from their doors.
