Sara Finch has always believed every child's story deserves to be heard-even the ones told by teddy bears.
At The Story Lady, Bear Lake's beloved bookstore, bakery, café, and daycare, Sara spends her days comforting nervous children, naming objects, rescuing lost stuffed animals, and turning everyday kindness into a kind of quiet magic. When she realizes the children in her care all place their beloved plush companions at the heart of their adventures, Sara dreams up a project that could preserve those precious stories forever.
But bringing Teddy Bear Tales to life will take more than crayons, permission forms, and a generous supply of hot chocolate. It will take Adam Bennett, a thoughtful illustrator with a traveling heart, a careful sketchbook, and an unexpected gift for seeing the wonder Sara has always known was there.
As Adam's drawings give shape to pirate bears, brave rabbits, chair-inspecting teddy bears, and one very suspicious raisin, Sara discovers that some stories are bigger than the pages they fill. The children's imaginations begin knitting a whole community together-and Adam may be drawing himself into a place he never meant to stay.
Warm, funny, and tender, The Caring Lady is a sweet small-town tale about children's stories, found family, and the quiet courage it takes to believe that love-like every good book-deserves to be held close.
