Captain James Box's Adventures and Explorations in New and Old Mexico is a travelogue and historical account of the author's experiences during ten years of exploration and research in Mexico. The book was first published in 1869 and is written by Michael James Box, who was a captain in the British army and a keen explorer. The book is divided into chapters, each documenting a different phase of Box's travels in Mexico. The author describes his experiences in detail, including his encounters with the local people, his observations of the landscape and natural resources, and his interactions with the various tribes and cultures he encounters. Box's explorations take him across the length and breadth of New and Old Mexico, from the deserts of the south to the mountains of the north. He describes the flora and fauna of the region, including the cacti, coyotes, and rattlesnakes that he encounters along the way. In addition to his travelogue, Box also provides a detailed historical account of the region, including its colonization by the Spanish, the wars and conflicts that have taken place there, and the various cultures that have shaped the area's history. Overall, Captain James Box's Adventures and Explorations in New and Old Mexico is a fascinating account of a bygone era of exploration and discovery. The book provides a unique insight into the history and culture of Mexico, and is a must-read for anyone interested in the region's past and present. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
