The Canons of the Primitive Church Together with the Creeds of Nicaea and Constantinople and the Definition of the Faith Set Forth at Chalcedon is a book written by Reverend G. B. Howard. The book is a compilation of important documents from the early Christian Church, including the canons, or laws, that were established by the Church's leaders in the first few centuries after the death of Jesus Christ. The book also includes the Creeds of Nicaea and Constantinople, which are statements of faith that were developed by the Church in response to various theological controversies. Finally, the book includes the Definition of the Faith Set Forth at Chalcedon, which is a statement of the Church's belief in the nature of Christ. Overall, the book provides a valuable resource for scholars and students of Christian history and theology who are interested in understanding the development of the Church's beliefs and practices over time.1896. Translated from additional MSS. 14258 (Br. Mus.), a Syriac MS. of the Sixth Century; and from other MSS. of almost equal antiquity; with a copious index. There are complete in this Book 193 Canons; and they were composed by eight different Synods, and were translated from Greek into Aramean carefully and with lucidity, in the City Maburg in the year 812 of Alexandros. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
