The Canon of Holy Scripture is a book written by Matthew Henry Henderson in 1868. It is a comprehensive guide that provides an in-depth analysis of the Holy Scriptures, with a focus on the King James Version, the Latin Vulgate, and the Douay Bible. The book aims to help readers understand the history and development of the Bible, as well as the different translations and interpretations that have emerged over the centuries.Henderson's work is divided into several sections, each of which explores a different aspect of the Bible. The first section provides an overview of the canon of Scripture, including its history, composition, and authority. The second section focuses on the King James Version, examining its origins, translation process, and impact on English literature and culture. The third section discusses the Latin Vulgate, which was the standard Bible used in the Western Church for over a thousand years. The fourth and final section examines the Douay Bible, which is a translation of the Latin Vulgate into English that was used by Catholics in the 16th and 17th centuries.Throughout the book, Henderson provides detailed commentary and analysis of the various translations and versions of the Bible, as well as the historical and cultural context in which they were developed. He also offers insights into the theological and philosophical debates that have surrounded the Bible over the centuries, making this book a valuable resource for scholars, theologians, and anyone interested in the history and interpretation of the Holy Scriptures. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
