Camps in the Caribbees is a book written by Frederick A. Ober, an American naturalist who traveled to the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean in the late 19th century. The book is a personal account of his adventures and experiences during his travels, which took him to various islands in the region. Ober describes the natural beauty of the Caribbean islands, including their flora and fauna, as well as the local customs and traditions of the people who live there. He also shares his encounters with various animals, such as iguanas, snakes, and birds, and his observations of their behavior and habitats. The book is written in a lively and engaging style, and is illustrated with numerous black and white photographs and sketches. It provides a unique perspective on the Caribbean islands during a time when they were still relatively unknown to most Americans, and offers insights into the natural history and cultural heritage of the region. Overall, Camps in the Caribbees is a fascinating read for anyone interested in natural history, travel, or the Caribbean region. It is a valuable historical document that captures a bygone era of exploration and discovery, and is sure to delight and inform readers of all ages. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
