Serving as a USAF pilot, General Shuler took part in some of the most significant events in recent American history, to include the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam war, and North Korean border threats. He later became a senior leader in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Lieutenant General, and holding important leadership positions, to include command of the Eighth Air Force.
