Calderon's Dramas is a collection of three plays written by Spanish playwright Pedro Calderon De La Barca. The first play, The Wonder-Working Magician, is a religious drama that tells the story of a magician who uses his powers to help a young couple in love. The second play, Life Is A Dream, explores the themes of fate, free will, and the nature of reality through the story of a prince who is imprisoned and forced to confront his own identity. The third play, The Purgatory Of Saint Patrick, is a religious allegory that tells the story of Saint Patrick's journey through purgatory. All three plays are written in the style of Spanish Golden Age theatre and are considered to be some of Calderon's most important works. This edition of Calderon's Dramas was originally published in 1873 and features an introduction by translator Denis Florence MacCarthy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
