Cagliostro and His Egyptian Rite of Freemasonry is a book written by Henry Ridgely Evans, which explores the life and work of the enigmatic Count Alessandro di Cagliostro, a prominent figure in the history of Freemasonry. The book delves into the origins of Cagliostro's Egyptian Rite, a Masonic order that he claimed to have founded based on ancient Egyptian wisdom and mysticism. The author provides a detailed account of Cagliostro's life, including his early years in Italy, his travels throughout Europe, and his involvement in various Masonic lodges and secret societies. Evans also examines the controversy surrounding Cagliostro's teachings and practices, which were often criticized by other Masonic leaders and ultimately led to his downfall. Throughout the book, Evans provides insights into the esoteric beliefs and practices of Cagliostro and his followers, as well as the historical context in which they emerged. He also explores the influence of Cagliostro's teachings on subsequent generations of Freemasons and other occultists.
