Grief. Some will tell you it's just love with no place to go. Others will tell you it's nothing of love and it's the worst emotion one could ever endure. For me, I think both are distinctly different emotions that often come together like two peas in a pod. In BROKEN, there is nearly 200 Haiku-style poem entries of heartbreak, loss, regret, and guilt. More importantly, love. Tough love, that at times, is dark, unconventional, unapologetic, raw and broken. Throughout BROKEN, there are many metaphors relating to trauma bonding, real-time grief within a relationship and heavy guilt. These poems were written for those who have weathered the flames and still managed to rise up with courage from their ashes.
