Bred In The Bush is a novel written by Nathaniel Gould and published in 1903. The story is set in Australia and follows the life of a young man named Jack, who is born and raised in the bush. Jack is the son of a cattle farmer and grows up with a deep love and respect for the land and its animals. As he grows older, Jack becomes a skilled horseman and cattle drover, and eventually takes over his father's farm. The novel explores the challenges and hardships faced by those living in the bush, including droughts, bushfires, and the isolation that comes with living in a remote area. It also delves into the relationships between the settlers and the indigenous people of the land, highlighting the cultural differences and conflicts that arise.Throughout the novel, Jack faces personal struggles, including his love for a woman who is already engaged to another man, and his own internal conflicts about the future of his farm and his place in the world. The story ultimately culminates in a dramatic and tragic event that forces Jack to confront his own beliefs and values.Bred In The Bush is a vivid and compelling portrayal of life in the Australian bush at the turn of the 20th century, and a testament to the resilience and strength of those who call it home. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
