Bitter Elixir: the poetry debut of a young Bay Area female, grappling with...
1. Mysticism/God
2. Social Injustice
3. Mental Illness
This poetry chapbook (a 26-minute read) is a futuristic exploration of the painful scope of life, and the pleasant soothing realities of internal peace. APL is uniquely perceptive and a little bit harsh, bringing light to otherwise unbreachable topics. Bitter Elixir asks you to delight in defiance, and be brave.
The collection contains seven 'brevity' poems and ten full-length poems. Each poem is stylistically unique. 'YOU are the Grim Reaper' on pages 9 - 15 includes outside references to contemporary news articles.
Look to the formal reviews by three well-regarded authors for further description of APL's powerful debut.
